Lesson 1.2 : Tables

So, you've been searching around sites where you can pick up some linkware to make your site look great. You've downloaded the graphics to your own machine and are getting ready to put your pages together...but you can't seem to get all of the images lined up the way that you want. This is another time when tables come in handy. You've got it. Use a table to line buttons (or other images) up or put them in a configuration that you like.

Look at that. Four images lined up with perfect spacing, done in a simple table with one row and four columns. Blow you'll see the borders of the table so you can see exactly what it looks like.

But what if you wanted a configuration that is a little less simple? How about this one?

Or if you have more images than would fit in one row?

It's really quite easy. Simply figure out how many spaces you need, and how many rows you'll want, and then fill in the blanks with the images that you need to put there.

Now what about lining text and images up? Let's say you have a little bullet that you want to have lined up exactly with some text.

text after an image without a table looks silly.

You see how the text sits at the bottom corner of the image? What you would really want is to have it line up perfectly and centered as it would it you used a table with 2 columns (like the one below).

Now the text lines up perfectly with the image.

Now that you have the basics on tables, how about working on piecing together an image that comes in several different parts?
